Why should I get a pro to do my waste disposal installation**
Installing a waste disposal involves tapping into your home’s plumbing and
electrical systems, and both systems need to be handled correctly to safely
install your waste disposal. Someone with a lot of experience can handle the
job in 2 or 3 hours—or maybe even less. Attempting a waste disposal
installation without any training will likely take at least double the time
required for a professional to install the waste disposal.
What steps are involved in a waste disposal installation**
Step 1: Your pro will first check under your sink to make sure your new
waste disposal will fit the area and sink, and turn off the water to your
sink. Step 2: This project depends on existing electrical access under the
sink. The pro will verify that there’s adequate electrical access, and turn
off the electricity at the circuit breaker. Step 3: The pro will pry the snap
ring off the sink flange of your new waste disposal, which will allow the
entire waste disposal mounting assembly to come apart, so the pro can work
with each of the components in the correct order. Step 4: If the waste
disposal should be attached to the dishwasher, the pro will prepare the waste
disposal to be connected, and then install the mounting ring and snap ring.
Step 5: Next, the pro will connect the electrical wires and mount the waste
disposal under the sink. Step 6: Finally, the pro will attach the drain lines
to the waste disposal, and finish the waste disposal assembly by tightening
all the connections and cleaning up.
What do I need to do before my appointment**
Before your waste disposal installation appointment, please have on hand
the waste disposal you purchased, including all screws and other pieces that
came with it. If the job isn’t a standard waste disposal installation
project, and requires additional parts or labour to complete the service,
additional fees may apply to cover the cost of the waste disposal parts and
the waste disposal installation work.
