iPad Air (2022) Design.The iPad Air (2022) is just a look-a-like of the iPad Air (2021), but with a larger display. It still features an all-aluminium body with Apples present design of uniform bezels and flat sides. From the front, it would be hard to tell it apart from an Apple iPad Pro 11 2021 (M1).
iPad Air 5 size and weight are both comfortable for normal tablet tasks, which include reading articles or books or taking notes with the Apple Pencil. Its not quite as easy to use as the 8.3 iPad Mini, but the good thing is that you are getting a larger screen.
iPad Air (2022) Display.
The iPad Airs 10.9 screen cannot be compared to the 11-inch Pros display, but it is still comfortable enough for streaming movies. It does not dim when youre using it for laptop-like work, with split screen and multitasking modes. We would strongly recommend going with the 12.9-inch Pro model, if you need to replace your laptop with an iPad.
iPad Air (2022) Audio and Camera.
iPad Air (2022) doesnt have an advanced speaker system as the iPad Air Pro, with just two speakers instead of four. But the two speakers are on opposite sides of the tablet (left and right in landscape, top and bottom in portrait) they are able to provide an Audio experience that is clear, loud, and great.
Though the rear camera remains the same single 12 MP unit as before, the front camera has been upgraded to a 12 MP ultrawide unit, similar to the Studio Display, with support for Apples own Centre Stage feature that is designed to keep you in frame during video calls.
iPad Air (2022) Connectivity.
Apple didnt overtake the Pros Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port to the Air this year, but it did upgrade the speed of the port to 10Gbps, twice as fast as the 2020 models so you can transfer files or plug in to an up to 6K external display. Sadly, Apple also didnt add back a 3.5mm headphone jack; the only iPad in the lineup with that port at this point is the basic version.
iPad Air (2022) Performance
Its interesting that Apple didnt use the newer A15 chip here, as it has in the iPhone 13 256GB, the new iPhone SE (2022) and last years iPad Mini. Instead iPad Air (2022) is powered by the M1. When you compare the M1 to the A15, the M1 pulls ahead. This is because it has two more high-performance cores and three more GPU cores. You get two models; the 64GB model and the 256GB. The M1 is paired with 8GB of RAM, the same space youll find in a base MacBook Air or iMac. From the Chip to the space you can clearly see that the iPad Air (2022) is a good performer and we really recommend it for you.

Performance
The A14 Bionic chip inside the iPad 2022 is quite speedy ** it**s the same processor found in the iPhone 12. When playing a game like PABG, you**ll notice that the animations are smooth and the iPad performs well. You will detect latency at some time, but this is typical. On Geekbench 5, which evaluates overall performance, the iPad 2022 scored 1,580 on single-core and 4,400 on multi-core, which is a significant boost over the 9th generation iPad**s results of 1,384 and 3,387.
Camera
The rear camera on the iPad 2022 is crisper, jumping from 8MP on the previous generation to 12MP on the new tablet.
